This stunning site in the South Downs National Park housed a run down building in much need of renovation. MH Architects were appointed to design a Passivhaus replacement dwelling on the site. The proposed design subtly nestles between neighbours, providing a structured street frontage and opening up to the private garden and landscape of the National Park beyond.
Flexible internal space allows the adjustment of rooms to become inclusive or private depending upon the mood of the occupants. Careful material selection of quality robust products gives the building extra depth, as do key details around windows and within timber work.
Focused on Passivhaus design principles the scheme has undergone extensive energy modelling and testing. We coordinated the planning process within the park and achieved success at the first time of asking.
Following the grant of planning approval we have worked closely with the client and their chosen contractor to develop the working drawings and assist in the delivery on site. Due for completion in late 2018.
